Hello, new neighbor!

Perhaps you have just arrived in the United States as a refugee. Perhaps you arrived on a visa to work in North Dakota. Maybe you have lived in the US most of your life, and are new to Bismarck.

Regardless of how you came here, we are glad to have you. Your presence enriches our whole community, and we want to help you thrive and feel at home!

How We Help New Americans:

Our mentor program matches you or your family with an American volunteer who can help you with English, school work, applications, culture, getting to know North Dakota, and driving. This person is like a tutor and friend, who wants you to be successful in America.

In return, you can help your American friend learn about your own culture and story, and help us to be a more welcoming community.

There is no cost to have a mentor. They can come to your home, or meet you in the community. You can request a mentor of your same gender. Your American mentor will schedule to meet with you once every week for six months. You can stop at any time.
